Day of the Dead Activities
Day of the Dead is a celebration that falls on November 1. This year, THE BOOK OF LIFE , is bringing the Day of the Dead to life with fun activities for the whole family. In Central and Southern Mexico, they believe that the gates of heaven are opened at midnight on October 31, and the spirits of all deceased children are allowed to reunite with their families for 24 hours. On November 2, the spirits of the adults come down to enjoy the festivities that are prepared for them. With most families spending up to two months of their income for the festivities, the holiday is extravagant. Each home displays beautiful altars decorated with buckets of marigolds and red cock's combs, mounds of fruit, candles, peanuts, turkey mole, tortillas and Day of the Dead breads.
