Jennie-O has provided coupons to me in exchange for this post. All opinions are my own. Thanksgiving is a time to come together with family and gather around the table for some turkey and all the fixings. It's a time of reflection to look back on the year and see the progress, the new people who have entered your life, and reflect on those who are no longer around the table. The house smells amazing, the children are giddy, and by the end of the day, bellies are full, and there is something for which to be thankful. The first year I cooked Thanksgiving as the hostess, there were some 30-people. I spent the night, bathing a turkey to defrost it by morning. Then I cooked it, for hours. It emerged looking like charcoal briquettes on turkey bones. T here was devastation. My year of redemption I spent so much time focused on the bird, I spent hours bathing it in butter and checking in every 15 minutes to make sure it didn't get out of hand and dry. As we sat down to eat, my ...

Have you just recently started your own restaurant? If you have, you will want to make sure it looks as professional as possible to impress all of your customers. There are many things that you will need to keep in mind as you are just getting your new restaurant off the ground. Many restaurant owners are so worried about things such as the food, pricing, and hiring a staff that they let the smaller details slip right through the cracks. For example, what is your menu going to look like? This is clearly not as important as the other things previously mentioned. However, an elegantly designed menu will impress your customers. It might even convince them to buy dishes that they would not have previously considered eating. Here are some tips regarding hiring a company to design a menu. 1. Look at samples You will obviously need to have a good idea of what you will be getting if you hire a company to design your menus. The best way to do this is to look at samples of some of their pre...

I grew up on Walt Disney, Roald Dahl and Steven Spielberg. They were the trifecta that brought imagination to my childhood. They continue to create magical adventures for my children and are called, by many, three of the world's greatest storytellers.  On November 14, 2015, I spent my Saturday coming and going from a Middle School during a First LEGO League competition. It was the Virginia Regionals and my, then 9-year old was part of a fourth-grade team. I remember the day he came home asking if he could participate in Robotics . We agreed and he brought home an application. I was impressed by the time and effort he put into completing the application and finally signing his name, now committed, should he be one of the 12 children selected. We waited and finally, he came home with a Cheshire grin and the announcement he had made it on a robotics team. Every week, he spent one or two days after school working as a team on a LEGO robot . Our dinner conversations were centered around coding and research projects. This Saturday, it all came together as they competed. Two teams represented the elementary school. Some of the competition took place behind the scenes while others were happening in the gymnasium for parents to view. F...
