Is Wooden Flooring Easy to Install?

Whereas carpet may once have been a favorite among homeowners, tastes have changed dramatically over the past few years, as an increasing number of people are showing a preference for wooden flooring

There are many different reasons for this, but one of the big selling points for wood flooring is that they are now designed with ease of installation in mind, making it a simple and effective DIY project for many homeowners.

Gone are the days where you need to source planks of wood, cut them to size, and then install using specialist tools – times have moved on, and the flooring installation is far easier to do.

Equipment

When you go to purchase your engineered flooring for the house, you will have made measurements in advance to ensure you get the right level of materials.

If you are going for the easy-to-install click flooring, then you will be able to purchase this as a pack when you give the supplier your measurement details.

The pack will come with all the wood you need but if you need the basic tools to support this then the supplier can also give you the standard pack for this.

This will include a mini-saw, pencil, measurement tape, and some other basic items.

Effectively, you can get everything you need from a basic toolkit.

When you are purchasing the equipment, it is important that you also consider the underlay which plays an important part in the quality.

Do not underestimate the importance of this as it can improve the acoustics in the room and the feeling of the floor underfoot.

Installing

If you have purchased the click wooden flooring, then someone with only very basic DIY skills will be capable of laying this flooring.

Your first task should be to make certain that you have a smooth surface to lay this on which will normally require removing the carpet that was in its place and then making sure the surface is clean.

Once the underlay is placed it becomes as simple as cutting your wood to the correct size using the mini saw from the toolkit, and then lifting and clicking the flooring into place.

It is always worthwhile to make sure you have some extra material just in case you cut the wrong size.

Maintenance

You will be relieved to hear that the maintenance around flooring is low.

There is not much that you need to do in that respect as the wood surface can be cleaned using either a modern hoover or even a mop.

If areas get damaged, then it is easy enough to lift this up and replace it with the click flooring.

Summary

Overall, engineered wooden flooring is easy to install but not all people would be comfortable doing it.

You can watch some of the videos online as to how to do it but if you are not comfortable giving this a go, you can always call a joiner.

Before you know it, you will have your own stunning floor in place.
