Piggy Paint Review
Piggy Paint Review
One of my most favorite moments with my girls is "GLAM TIME"--nail polish just entertains them. In fact, they will do darn near anything for the chance to pick their own color and be pampered.
I hadn't really thought about the toxic properties of this fun activity. I mean...NEVER even crossed my mind. Then I read the story about Piggy Paint! and my jaw hit the floor.
"One day while we were painting nails over a foam plate, my daughter dropped a glob of her solvent-based polish onto the plate. Shortly after, the paint began to bubble and “ate” through the plate. I looked in dismay at the hole in the plate and decided to test all of her other “kid” polishes on the foam. Within minutes, ALL of the solvent-based polishes began to bubble and eventually left big holes in the plate. From that day on, I decided that any flammable substance that could eat through foam was unacceptable for my children’s fingernails, which would inevitably end up in their mouths."
Yikes!
That's the story of Melanie, the founder of Piggy Paint! Because of that one day, she set out to create a fingernail polish that was SAFE. The result was Piggy Paint! It is free of formaldehyde, toluene, phthalates, biphenyl A, ethyl acetate and acetone... and made in the USA!
I'll admit, I had my doubts. Water-Based nail polish was not going to last long. My girls have tried the nail polish that literally peels off. They were disappointed.
We were sent "GIRLS RULE" to review. My girls absolutely squealed when they saw the color. It's a cross between pink and purple (their two favorite colors) and it has all a girl wants in shimmer!
We clipped cuticles and soaked our hands and then I set out to paint, still doubtful of how this was going to work out.
The nail polish itself went on very smoothly. Thin coats were easy and it wasn't "globby".
My six-year-old was the first to say, "Hey, this stuff doesn't stink up the room!" Then noses started sniffing and everyone agreed it was not "disgusting". Even my husband commented, "what did you paint their nails with? I don't smell it."
It just kept getting better. After two coats of polish, I told the girls to "sit still until it dries". It didn't take long for them to leave the table and head off to show off their girly hands. Piggy Paint! dries fast!
It's been three days since we painted nails. They've bathed and showered every day. They've played outside...climbing trees, doing monkey bars, and jumping rope. They're Piggy Paint! nails aren't even chipped! They still look like the day we painted them! AMAZING!

But wait! What about the nail polish remover? It seems that negates the effort to protect our children; right?
No worries, Melanie and Piggy Paint! thought this through. Piggy Paint! has a remover!
The Piggy Paint! Remover is just as gentle as their nail polish. My girls love that it is small in size and their crazy about the label.
