OxiClean Dishwashing Booster Review

Do you know what is gross? Pulling out dishes from the dishwasher after they have completed the cleaning cycle and finding food particles or spots on the dishes. We moved 18 months ago into a home that would have failed any cleaning inspection. We spent weeks cleaning and when we settled in our dishwasher had been overlooked.

We are a family that feasts. Our dishwasher runs two times a day, sometimes three if we're entertaining. There have been moments when I have gone to unload the dishwasher and found its clean was not so clean. Worse, when the kiddos have unloaded the dishwasher and I've gone to serve someone a beverage and the glass was speckled with waterspot and required a hand wash before I could fill the glass.

The first few cycles were foul and disgusting so I took it a part, cleaned it and put it back together. It didn't help. The baking pans were gray, the glasses had fingerprints and lip prints still on them, and they were coming out with a cloudy film." I thought out dishwasher was dying.  We changed detergents.

Perhaps I can blame it all on phosphates being banned from detergents. It seems reasonable. Back in July of 2010, Utah was one of 16 states to ban stores from selling products with more than 0.5% Phosphate. The other fifteen states who implemented the law were States instituting the rule include Illinois, Indiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Montana, New Hampshire, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Vermont, Virginia, Washington and Wisconsin.

We've tried a lot of cleaning products, including the unconventional cherry kool-aide. They seem to help but nothing went beyond a few washes. Within the past two weeks I've added OxiClean Dishwashing Booster to our dishwasher. One of the things I love is that you can add it to the dishwasher and run it with dishes the FIRST time. There's no running the dishwasher empty or worse, having to to let it sit while your sink fills to the brim with dirty dishes.

We are lazy and don't rinse our dishes first. OxiClean Dishwashing Booster still tackled the dishes, rinsing them crystal clean AND improved the inside of the dishwasher, leaving it clean and fresh smelling. Day after day the dishes are clean, free of food particles and hard water spots AND our dishwasher is losing the build up and grime I haven's been able to remove.

A recent survey shared Dishwashing and Entertaining Statistics. I thought they were interesting and believe me I'd have been in the majority on all of them!

Dishwashing & Entertaining Survey Stats:

  • 69% of respondents either do not know what phosphates are (14%) or that they were banned from dishwashing detergents (55%)
  • 49% feel frustrated because they don’t know what’s causing the spots on dishes
  • Top three things that consumers believe cause the spots/cloudy dishes are dishwashing detergent (50%), hard water (34%), dishwasher not working well (30%)
  • Over half (56%) have switched their detergent 2-5 times
  • 88% agree or strongly agree that it is embarrassing to serve on dishes that have spots or are cloudy
  • Almost 1 in 3 (32%) say their biggest kitchen challenge is achieving sparkly dishes; 30% say spots on dishes are their biggest kitchen complain
OxiClean Dishwashing Booster has improved the appearance of our dishes and our dishwasher. There's no more holding our breath when we unlatch the door of the dishwasher after a cycle. I am not more confident than ever when I offer our guests something to drink or serve them food.
