Allergy Relief with Aprilaire Review

 rosepic1

According to Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America, the North Carolina Piedmont (Greensboro, N.C.) is listed as one of the top 10 worst areas in the United States to live for allergy sufferers. Allergy season here is extreme. Tree pollen begins around the middle of February and continues through May. Pollen from grasses tend to be an issue year round, and weed season begins early May and continues through the first hard freeze which is usually around the end of October.  Many factors combine to create the perfect environment for a thriving pollen count –  high humidity, a longer growing season, and lots of rain.

Allergies affect an estimated 40-50 million people in the United States. More than 50 percent of people develop allergies as a child, but recent studies show that it is not uncommon for allergies to develop later in life.  I can relate to these statistics. As a child I wasn’t allergic to anything, but as an adult, I suffer from allergies year round.  Maybe it’s because I had a late-onset of allergies, or perhaps it’s because I moved to one of the top ten cities with the highest pollen count, either way I was looking for relief

My doctor has prescribed a multitude of medicine to treat my allergy symptoms including: Flonase nasal spray, Zyrtec alternated with Allegra, Advil, and when the symptoms become unbearable she also recommends Afrin or a Vicks Vapor inhaler.  The medical bills and medicine have been costly, to say the least, and I am not alone. The average person spends over $500 a year on physician visits and medication due to allergy related illness.  Last year, my allergies were so bad that I considered seeing a specialist for allergy shots, but with an average yearly cost of $1,000.00 and finding the time for weekly visits to the doctor, I wanted to see if there were other options to reduce my symptoms.

Since the installation of the Aprilaire Electronic Air Purifier last November, my allergy symptoms are considerably less intrusive.

The Aprilaire Electronic Air Purifier traps and removes over 99% of pollen and mold spore particles that are larger than 3 microns. We usually keep our air purifier on an automatic cleaning schedule which filters the air in our home every 30 minutes, but on those days when the pollen count (the number of grains of pollen in a cubic meter of air),  is greater than 9 we use the constant cleaning air purifying setting, which operates 24 hours a day.

After enjoying the benefits of the Aprilaire Electronic Air Purifier for the past six months, I can honestly say that there is a noticeable difference in the quality of air in our home. Our entire family has reaped the benefits and as a result we have not missed a day of school or work due to illness since this system was installed.

The filtration system may not be a miracle solution to allergies, but it has certainly made a difference in our house.  My children are healthier, my allergy symptoms are manageable and our house needs to be dusted less frequently.
